The great Aaliyah once said "dust yourself off and try again". Now I am pretty sure when Aaliyah said this phrase in her song Try Again, she was likely talking about love and relationships. But even so, I think that she was spot on.

This week I am talking about the art of trying. I reacquainted myself with the phrase "if at first you don't succeed try try again". I think as professional women of color, we are so wrapped up in public opinion and perception. We are afraid to try new things out of fear of being perceived as someone who is "all over the place", "wishy washy".

There is a difference between being a hot mess and  being someone ins pursuit of greatness. Some of us came out of the womb knowing what we wanted to be in life. Purposed from birth. Others, such as myself, are still trying to figure out where we fit in. However, in order to figure it out, you have to try new things. You have to be open minded and you have to be ok with the F- word, FAILURE.

Failure is a part of life. No one likes it. I sure don't. In fact, I hate it. But it is part of the process.

Tune in as I talk about the importance of trying and how "living up to standards" is ruining our lives.
