FREEda's World

May 8, 2019

This week I am joined by my good friend Jellisa Joseph. Jellisa was recently nominated for a prestigious award. She was so excited for the nomination. However, instead of basking in excitement, the first thought that came to her mind was "do I deserve this".

This form of self doubt is very common amongst professional women of color. We do it all the time! But why? Why do we have such an issue with accepting accolades and awards? Why can't our first inclination be, "wow I did it! I knew I could do it!"

Tune in as Jellisa and I have a very candid conversation about our  experiences, the social oppression of women of color by  not only "the man" but also by ourselves.

We don't have all the answers, but we explore different ways to not only slay self doubt, but to find ways where we as women of color can do a better job of recognizing and celebrating each other outside of our silos.
